ThinSpring
Was Selected To Demonstrate PIM Server To The European
Federation Of Pharmaceutical Industries Associates (EFPIA)
In Brussels On June 14, 2006
Brussels, Belgium
(July 7, 2006) - ThinSpring, a leading provider of
XML-based solutions such as SPL Server™ and the Electronic
Labeling Information Processing System (ELIPS) for the United
States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), was selected to
demonstrate PIM Server™ to the European Federation
of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) in
Brussels on June 14, 2006. This meeting was a direct result
of an increased interest on the part of European regulatory
bodies to require electronic file format for all labeling
submissions.
ThinSpring presented the key features of PIM Server, demonstrated
the software, and allowed time for Q&A. ThinSpring demonstrated
a solution that answered the key issues facing the EFPIA,
one of which was the elimination of redundancy through data
reuse. Other aspects of the ThinSpring solution that were
demonstrated included distributed data entry, check-in/check-out,
process management, advanced editing, and multilingual capability.
Users were able to operate SPL Server with absolutely no
XML or HTML knowledge.
The FDA currently uses ELIPS as a part of the process to
internally validate Structured Product Label (SPL) submissions
from pharmaceutical manufacturers. The FDA made SPL mandatory
as of November 3, 2005. Shortly after that in December of
2005, the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) saw the first
use of its Product Information Management (PIM) system.
